The Macaronesian Islands

Both Madeira and the Azores belong to the Macaronesian Islands. The term "Macaronesia" includes the archipelagos of volcanic origin located in the eastern Central Atlantic; thus, in addition to the Azores and Madeira, the Canary Islands and Cape Verde. This volcanic origin is strongly pronounced in the natural landscapes of the archipelago. In addition to high cliffs, volcanic craters and mountains, the islands also have beautiful valleys and picturesque bays.
